Geoff's Biography

Geoff (cornet,trombone,tuba,vocals) is one of Australia 's finest Traditional Jazz musicians, having played and recorded with musicians of the calibre of Bob Barnard, Tom Baker, James Morrison, Don Burrows, Vince Giordano, The New Wolverine Jazz Orchestra and many others. He has appeared as a featured soloist at festivals and jazz clubs throughout Australia, Europe and the USA. His debut CD, “Aspects Of Power', was nominated for an Australian Recording Industry Award ( ARIA ) in 2000 under the “Best Jazz Album” category, and his other CDs, Classic Jazz" and "Indian Summer", regularly receive radio airplay and have been favourably reviewed all over the world. His band, Geoff Power's Classic Jazz, appeared at the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival in Davenport , Iowa ,Bix's birthplace, in July 2005. In 2013 and 2014 Geoff was Musical Director for "Jazz At The Glen" at the Glen St. Theatre in Sydney's Frenchs Forest, and as part of 2014's "Jazz At The Glen" presented his "Tribute To Louis Armstrong" in concert.

Geoff is also greatly interested in jazz education, and has many years' experience working with school jazz bands and musicians.  He is currently the Coordinator of the Jazz Stars Of The Future Stage at the Manly Jazz Festival.
